Telluride, Colorado claims home to many 13,000 foot peaks and of course several 14,000 foot mountains.
Uncompahgre Peak is a majestic 14, 309 feet and tempts climbers year round with it's highly scenic hike.
Others enjoy the Wetterhorn at 14, 015 above sea level. The Wetterhorn is a difficult approach and should only be considered by advanced climbers due to it's class 3 status. Perhaps the most well-known peak in the Forest, along with Uncompahgre, is majestic Mount Sneffels at 14, 150 feet. Due to it standing so tall in the San Juan Mountains and because views of Mount Sneffels are easy to come by, this is a popular hike for many. All of the peaks around Telluride provide stunning backdrops and easily reveal the Southwest Colorado's natural beauty.
